Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
E-learning is training, learning, or education delivered online through a computer or any other digital device. It’s sometimes called web-based training and the instructions are delivered over the internet anywhere and at any time. Learners can access courses from any part of the world.
Online learning allows the learners to benefit from virtual conferencing tools such as Zoom, Teams, Meet, etc., allowing the learners to interact with their trainer/instructor face-to-face. Online courses conduct live and discuss the materials with learners during the live session.
Whereas, E-learning is more self-paced and internet-based learning through digital resources. E-learning courses run on a learning management system (LMS) and contain text, word documents, PowerPoint slides, images, pre-recorded videos/audio lectures, quizzes, gamification, charts, infographics, group discussions, etc.
The main difference between eLearning and online learning is the amount of interaction. Learners and instructors interact more during online learning, while eLearning is more self-paced.
Self-paced learning is a style of instruction in which learners progress through the material at their own speed and on their own schedule. In contrast to traditional classroom-based learning or cohort-based learning, self-paced learning is directed by the learner, not the instructor. It’s sometimes called learner-centered learning. Self-paced learning is a type of eLearning that allows users to train in their own time using online courses.
If you have ever taken a course online that wasn’t led by an instructor and consisted of you reading materials, watching videos, taking quizzes, and performing other learning activities in your own time – this is self-paced learning.
Learning at your own pace with your own responsibility & commitment, and developing ownership of learning, can lead to a significant improvement in memory performance and knowledge retention.
