ကမာၻ႔အဆန္းက်ယ္ဆံုးျပတိုက္ေတြထဲမွာ တစ္ခုအပါအဝင္ျဖစ္တဲ႔ ေဒလီက အိမ္သာျပတိုက္

Ancient monuments, mosques and forts are Delhi’s top attractions and they are mesmerizing must visit places. As we already been to most of the famous places of Delhi, we were searching for offbeat places in Delhi that will give us different and unique experience. While searching, we found the most interesting spot, called ‘International Museum of Toilets’. Yes, toilets! Bring on your toilet jokes.
Delhi’s toilets museums listed in Time Magazine as one of the world’s 10 weirdest museums. International toilets museum is around 45 min drive from downtown Delhi, Cannaught Place. Museum building is not as big building as compared to other museums. It’s a one story building in a large complex surrounded by greenery. This place displays different kinds of toilets and pits in real life size along with descriptions, the name of the pits, the capacity per toilets and how many users can use.
Ironically, this place is very clean and well-maintained. The museum was established in 1992 and displays the traces of the history of the toilet for the past 4,500 years. This place holds the global history of sanitation and toilets from 50 countries. Everything is arranged sequentially in three sections ‘Ancient, Medieval and Modern’. The museum exhibits various kind of toilets, commodes and accessories, development of the toilet related technology of the entire human history, social habits, etiquettes specific to existing sanitary situation and legal framework in different periods. The items on display included decorated toilet seats, toilet furniture, water closets and display boards related to toilet and its use.
Some of the interesting and amusing objects and information charts on display were: display boards with comics, toilet disguised as bookcase, jokes and cartoons related to humors on toilets, toilet pots made of gold and silver, the explanation about farting, floral and fancy urinal pots, and historical information about the sewerage and sanitation system from 3000 BC till the end of the 20th century.
One could see from simple chamber pots to elaborate decorated Victorian toilet seats at Sulabh International Museum of toilets tracing the entire evolution of toilets throughout human history. It is indeed a very unusual museum with the very good message and objective of the founder, ‘This museum was to highlight the need to address the problems of the sanitation sector in the country, considering the efforts made in various parts of the world in this filed since the third millennium BC’.
Counted among a few museums of this kind in the entire world, ‘Sulabh International Museum of Toilets ’, has to be on the top of the most off-beat places in Delhi. Delhi’s toilets museum offer one the history of the sewage and sanitation system with a dose of wit and humor that will keep one amused for sure.
